Marseille Vs Bayern Munchen football liga match preview

Olympique de Marseille have lost nine of their last 19 games at Stade Velodrome in the Champions League, drawing on three occasions. Midfielder Alou Diarra played for Bayern Munich's reserve side between 2000 and 2002, amassing 41 games. Olympique de Marseille have won their last two knockout ties against German opposition.

Bayern Munich have never played against Les Phoceens in an official game. The Bavarians have won three of their last four two-legged ties with French opposition. Daniel Van Buyten and Franck Ribery played for Olympique de Marseille in the past. In addition, Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer had a coaching stint with the French side in 1990/91.

APOEL Nicosia vs Real Madrid football match preview

Los Blancos, who are six points clear at the La Liga summit, enter the match in fine fettle following a 5-1 thrashing of Real Sociedad at the weekend. Their opponents, meanwhile, previously drew 0-0 with domestic title rivals Omonia.

Madrid are minus injured duo Ricardo Carvalho and Lassana Diarra, while Xabi Alonso is suspended. Cristiano Ronaldo is the headline act in Jose Mourinho's stellar ensemble, with the Portuguese ace recently becoming the quickest player to 100 La Liga goals in just 92 outings.

Real Madrid vs CSKA Moscow match preview

Real Madrid has won 30 of its last 34 games in all competitions, finding the net in every match during that sequence. Los Blancos have lost just one of the nine home fixtures against Russian opponents, going down 3-1 to Spartak Moscow in the 1990-91 European Cup quarter-final. Cristiano Ronaldo (pictured right) has netted nine times in his last six appearances for Madrid.

CSKA Moscow has lost just one of their last 12 away matches in all competitions, winning three and drawing eight. The Russian side are unbeaten against Spanish opposition in six outings (W3, D3). Should CSKA win against Madrid, it would represent its 50th victory in UEFA club competitions.

Chelsea vs Napoli match preview

Roberto Di Matteo takes charge of just his third match as
Chelsea manager after Andre Villas-Boas' dismissal. The Italian won his first two matches in charge with 2-0 victory against Birmingham in the FA Cup and a 1-0 win over Stoke last weekend. Chelsea are in the last 16 for the ninth season in succession but have won just three of their seven Champions League matches this season, despite taking the lead in all seven games.

Napoli went through their Champions League group stage group along with Bayern Munich ahead of Manchester City who they defeated 2-1 at home and drew with 1-1 away. The club previously won the Uefa Cup in 1989, inspired by Argentine legend Diego Maradona. The side have cultivated a fearsome reputation for counterattacking football, and top scorer Cavani has registered six goals in his last seven games for club and country, with 16 in Serie A and 5 in the Champions League so far this season.

Arsenal vs AC Milan match preview

Six of the Gunners' last 19 home wins in Europe have been by four or more goals. In their last two home games, Wenger's men netted seven against Blackburn and another five against Tottenham, with Robin van Persie (pictured right) contributing 10 in 11 games across all competitions. The north London outfit have managed 55 goals in 27 league games this campaign, two more than they recorded at this same stage of the 'Invincibles' season of 2003/04.

AC Milan have been knocked out at this stage of the Champions League in each of the last four seasons. In their last league game, the Italian giants destroyed Palermo by the same scoreline they beat Arsenal by in the first-leg (4-0) with Zlatan Ibrahimovic netting a hat-trick. Milan went into the 2003/04 quarter-finals with a 4-1 lead over Deportivo La Coruna, only to crash out after loosing 4-0 to the Spanish side in the second-leg. However, no-one has ever managed to overturn a foul-goal deficit over two-legs in the Champions League.

Pato to miss Gunners trip

Milan striker to sit out European date with Arsenal

Alexandre Pato will miss AC Milan's return date with Arsenal in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League after picking up a thigh injury.

The Brazil international has suffered a muscle tear and is expected to be sidelined for up to two weeks. The setback is the latest in a long line of problems endured by the striker in recent seasons.

Pato has now taken in 13 spells on the treatment table in the last two years. The latest of those blows is set to keep him out of Milan's trip to Emirates Stadium on 6th March. The Rossoneri hold a commanding 4-0 lead heading into that tie, but Pato had been hoping to help them over the line and into the quarter-finals. He has made just 17 appearances this season for Milan, netting four goals. - http://www1.skysports.com/
