The Chilean international, who has scored 11 goals in all competitions since his summer move from Udinese Calcio, suffered a tear to his right thigh during Saturday's 3-1 victory against Real Sporting de Gijón. Éric Abidal is also out of the Leverkusen game due to a groin injury. Midfielder Thiago Alcántara, meanwhile, is a doubt having sustained an injury to his right shin in training with Spain ahead of their 5-0 friendly triumph against Venezuela.
